David flew around the kitchen like a crazy man in order to land on his butt at the little breakfast table where he’d put two mugs of hot coffee, a cannoli for him, and two of his granny’s teacups mounded with fluffy chocolate mousse.

“Oh, shit, wait,” he growled before two seconds had passed. Jumping up, he ran to the fridge, located the aerosol whipped cream, and went back to the table.

“Sorry, it’s not homemade. I ran out of time.”

She didn’t seem to mind and encouraged him to squirt a huge blob onto her mousse. When he finished with a swirling flourish, she giggled, opened her mouth, and stuck out her tongue.

“Do you want me to squirt some on your tongue?”

She nodded enthusiastically like a child on a sugar high. He swallowed with difficulty when her head tilted back, and she waited. Did she not realize the visual impact of her waiting to receive something white and gooey on her tongue?

His hand was honest to god trembling as he shot a glob of the sweet cream into her mouth. Her tongue licked her lips, and she smiled shyly as she swallowed.

What was his name? He couldn’t remember. All his brain could handle was the erotic promise she just made.

She dug into the mousse and rolled her eyes. “It’s like a chocolate cloud.”

As she praised his abilities and plowed through the mousse and cannoli, he cooked up a new recipe in his mind from scratch that involved slathering Micki’s lovely body with chocolate sauce and whipped cream so he could lick it off. Every bit.

“Will you tell Emily I’m coming with you?” She asked the question quietly and with some hesitation. Her tension drew him back from his fantasy.

He considered the question and sipped his coffee.

“I thought it might be fun to surprise her. After all, she was the one who got us together. Em is a romantic. She’ll be over the moon, and I thought we’d enjoy seeing her reaction—together.”

Micki smiled but blushed a deep pink. “She’ll think we’re sleeping together. It’s what kids do although why that’s the first thing they think about I’ll never know.”

He found the observation charming and didn’t try to knock it down because she was right.

“Well, look at it this way. At least in Em’s scenario, you won’t be a cougar, but I might be a dirty old man. We’ll have to wait and see.”

Her laughter and the amusement shining in her azure eyes made his heart thump in response. “How old are you exactly?” she asked.

“Fifty-two.”

He chuckled as she counted on her fingers. “Seven years. An older man. Wow. How old was I when you lost your virginity?”

His jaw dropped, then he snorted in disbelief at her question and let loose with a full-throated laugh.

“Hold on. Let me think. I didn’t know there’d be a quiz.”

She giggled and rolled a shoulder. “You’re a big boy. I think you can handle it.”
